Brad May's Fight Card
1. October 21st, 2005 vs. Georges Laraque
Edmonton Oilers - 9:01 of the 2nd Period
Comments: Laraque and May decide to drop the gloves as
soon
as the puck is dropped. After a short square off Laraque
grabs a hold
of May getting him off-balance. May is in an awkward position
as
Laraque is letting loose with lefts. May gets sent to the ice
and Laraque
doesn't let up, but May still manages to get back on his
feet. He
doesn't get to straighten up before getting pulled back to
the ice by the
stronger Laraque. The linesmen then rush in to end the fight.
2. October 29th, 2005 vs. Lee Goren
Vancouver Canucks - 1:49 of the 1st Period
Comments: Fight takes a long time to get started. May
gets in a few
good, early shots, twisting and turning Goren around. Goren
looked
like he was waiting to tire May out, and gets a couple of
hard hits in at
the end and wrestles May to the ice.
3. November 18th, 2005 vs. Todd Fedoruk
The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim - 5:30 of the 1st Period
Comments: The two drop the gloves and square off at
the blue line,
each fighter switching stances multiple times. Fedoruk misses
with a
left hook as May grabs on and throws a couple of quick
rights.
Fedoruk ties up May's right arm and tries to rip his helmet
off. He
finally does and lands a right as May comes back with a left
to the
back of Fedoruk's head. Fedoruk switches hands and throws a
couple of lefts as the two start exchanging punches. They
each
nail each other with solid punches, knocking May off-balance
and to the ice.
4. November 30th, 2005 vs. Wade Brookbank
Vancouver Canucks - 2:1 of the 2nd Period
Comments: They drop the gloves right off of the
face-off and
square off. May grabs on and throws a left as Brookbank
throws
a right. They struggle to get loose until Brookbank throws a
flurry
of 6-7 rights. May returns fire with a right of his own
during the
exchange. Brookbank spins May around and throws another right
before the two fall to the ice. Brookbank gets in a shot
while they
are down as the linesmen come in.
5. December 17th, 2005 vs. Eric Godard
New York Islanders - 2:24 of the 3rd Period
Comments: Godard throws a check on John-Michael Liles,
who
gets sent to his butt and slides into the boards. Cody
McCormick
skates over to Godard and gives him a slash to get him to go,
but
May comes skating in fast and Godard drops his gloves to go
with
an already gloveless May. They grab on and Godard throws a
quick 4-5 rights, all landing to the side of May's head. They
grapple
a bit and exchange punches that don't land. May throws a
right that
misses and Godard counters with two rights that land. Godard
waits,
throws a couple of more rights, shakes off the elbow pad
sticks with
the right for a couple of more shots. May goes to switch to
the left
and when he does he opens himself up for a big right hand
from
Godard. They grapple a bit more and May tries to sneak in a
right.
Godard counters with a couple of more big shots that snap
May's
head back. They then hold on for the linesmen to come in.
Both
skaters skate a way with a smile. Other Penalties: Cody
McCormick received a slashing.
6. December 28th, 2005 vs.
George Parros
Los Angeles Kings - 13:08 of the 2nd Period
Comments: After the face-off, they drop the gloves and
square
off. They grab on as Parros throws about 5-6 jersey-jabs
before
May comes back with two rights. Parros then misses with a
right
allowing May to throw a right that knocks the two off-balance
and
to the ice. Parros throws a right while they are down.
7. December 31st, 2005 vs. Tim Jackman
Phoenix Coyotes - 5:19 of the 1st Period
Comments: They drop the gloves at center ice and
square off.
May starts things off with two rights as Jackman struggles to
get
loose as they skate down ice. May lands a big right as
Jackman
tries to return fire with a short right. May then connects
with a right
that knocks Jackman to the ice, covering his face.
8. February 28th, 2006 vs. Derek Boogaard
Minnesota Wild - 9:09 of the 3rd Period
Comments: May skates over and knocks Boogaard to his
knees
with a hit at the side of the Colorado net. Boogaard gets
back up
and shoves May as May pins him up against the glass. Boogaard
drops his gloves and lands a left jab as May responds with a
gloved
left. The linesmen quickly try to jump in between the two as
Boogaard tries to throw a right around the linesmen while May
still
has gloves and stick in hand. The linesmen continue to try
and
separate the two as May throws a short left that hits the
front of
Boogaard's helmet. Things finally calm down and the two skate
to
the penalty box. Other Penalties: Boogaard received a
slashing.
9. March 2nd, 2006 vs. Cam Severson
Columbus Blue Jackets - 10:06 of the 3rd Period
Comments: Some good hitting along the boards leads to
hot
tempers and everyone on the ice gathers in. Rupp drops the
gloves
with Hinote and rag dolls him as the rest of the players push
and
shove. Severson, playing in his first game with Columbus,
separates
away with Brad May and they agree to go. May starts off with
three hard lefts to a ducking Severson, one of which looks to
land.
Severson recovers and ties May up momentarily. May again gets
the left free and drills Severson with two very hard shots.
Severson
ducks and eats two more good lefts, before dropping to his
knees
where May gets in two last lefts to the back of his head.
Severson
gets back on his skates, but has no fight left in him and the
linesmen come in to break it up. Other Penalties: Dan Hinote
received a roughing; Michael Rupp a double roughing.
10. March 13th, 2006 vs. Darren McCarty
Calgary Flames - 8:25 of the 2nd Period
Comments: May takes a run at McCarty along the
boards while
McCarty tries to play the puck up ice. May bumps
McCarty
again and the two shove each other, drop the
gloves and have a
short square off. May grabs ahold of McCarty and
throws a left
that McCarty is able to duck under. May lands a
short right
before switching hands as he and McCarty exchange
lefts. May
then lands four lefts to the back and side of
McCarty's head as
McCarty throws a right in response. McCarty loses
his balance
and pushes himself back up with his hand as May
lands two lefts
to the back of McCarty's head while he is bent
over. McCarty
stands up straight and misses with a left just
before May misses
with a right hook over the top. The two then
wrestle around in
tight until the linesmen come in.
