Derek Morris' Fight Card
1. October 22nd, 2002 vs. Ethan Moreau
Edmonton Oilers - 15:18 of the 1st Period
Comments: Morris and Moreau go in the middle of a
power play.
Morris is clearly pissed and throws some very strong rights,
all of
which landed. Moreau gets in two very good punches to the
face
and Morris looks stunned, but comes back and throws a few
more
good ones before it is broken up.
2. December 3rd, 2002 vs. Martin Gelinas
Calgary Flames - 6:26 of the 2nd Period
Comments: Morris starts off with three uppercuts that
looked like
they did some damage. He gets locked out, then Gelinas lets
go
and Morris starts firing rights and Gelinas bends over as
Morris
nails flush with three rights and the last one puts him down.
Morris
takes two more swings as he's going down.
3. January 1st, 2003 vs. Adam Hall
Nashville Predators - 6:01 of the 2nd Period
Comments: Hall throws a check on Morris behind the
Colorado
goal and he and Morris begin to talk. They both decide to
drop the
gloves by the face-off dot. After a decent square off they
come
together. They hold for about five seconds, then Hall gets in
two
pretty good rights to Morris' forehead. Morris comes back
with a
couple of rights to the top of Hall's head. They both trade a
few
more shots that miss and Hall falls on top. Other Penalties:
Peter
Forsberg received an interference.
4. January 23rd, 2003 vs. David Ling
Columbus Blue Jackets - 4:24 of the 2nd Period
Comments: Not a lot of punches and then Ling landed
one right
towards the eye. Morris turned away and it the linesmen came
in
knowing it was over. Blood coming down and Morris winds up
with a broken orbital bone..
5. November 22nd, 2003 vs. Sean Avery
Los Angeles Kings - 12:55 of the 2nd Period
Comments: Avery is taking the puck and Morris stands
him up at
Colorado's blue line. They chat for a while and Avery drops
his
gloves and Morris drops em as he realizes Avery is not trying
to
draw a penalty. A nice short square off and they both dive
in.
Morris throws one that hits nothing but helmet. Morris has a
tight
hold on Avery and Avery throws one that misses. Morris seemed
like he wanted to hug for a while, as Avery was trying to get
free.
They get in close and Avery throws one more that slightly
lands to
the right side of Morris' face. Then Morris has Avery in a
hold and
has an arm free and throws about eight with the first couple
landing
decent and the others were missing or hitting his back.
